What is SaaS ?
The Software as a Service (SaaS) is a concept offering a subscription to a software rather than buying a license. With the development of IT technologies, more and more SaaS offers are made through the web. There is then no need to install a desktop application, you just use a client-server program. This concept, appeared in the early 2000s, takes over the application service provider (ASP).
What are the advantages of SaaS ?
SaaS solutions within a company allows a better control of technical charges. All technical solutions being relocated, the cost becomes fixed and is usually depending on the number of people using the SaaS solution. The price per user covering the cost of software licenses, the maintenance and the infrastructure, it is usual that the cost of a SaaS solution is lower than the acquisition of licenses and an in-house deployment.
Another advantage for companies is the rapid deployment. The SaaS solutions are pre-existing and the deployment time is thus extremely low. The use of
In the same spirit, the SaaS solutions are usually very flexible and allow the implementation of "On-Demand" solutions.
Prodigum, an e-collaborative platform in SaaS mode
Prodigum offers an e-collaborative work platform. In order to follow the trends in communication needs and integrate best practices of the market, Prodigum opted for a SaaS functioning.
Allowing the sharing of data between the different actors in the management of products compositions and ingredients, the SaaS tool is easily available, immediately, anywhere and anytime, for distributors, manufacturers and suppliers of all sizes and all categories, and this in a simple browser running on whatever machine.
The goal of data migration is to transfer existing data into the new environment. These must be transformed in an appropriate format to fit the new system, while preserving information stored in the old system.
What is data migration?
Several scenarios require migrating applications or databases: an update in a new version of the system, a change of technology for the database or the application, etc.
After a merger or acquisition, it is possible that the old and the new system need to coexist. However, most of the time, redundant applications are abandoned but the data they contain must be preserved in the remaining system.
When switching to a new version of a database, application or system, data must be preserved in this new system (this may be the case when moving from your current system to Prodigum).
The challenges of data migration
Data migration is often seen as an accessory aspect to the migration of applications or systems. However, there are several challenges to successfully migrate data. Everything depends on your current infrastructure.
Migrations often involve massive amounts of data. In some cases, migration implies the history of company transactions. It also implies the processing of large amounts of personal data.
In many cases, consistency must be maintained between the old and the new system after the data has been migrated. It is, for example, the case when several applications work with the same databases but are not migrated at the same time. Or when the new system is gradually implemented for users. In those cases, it is usually necessary to perform bidirectional synchronizations between the old and the new system.
Migration of your data to Prodigum
Unlike other systems, Prodigum allows the import of your data from your old management system and/or from your Excel spreadsheets to our management solution.
We propose you to migrate your current data to standardize them with the format of our tool. This step goes through an analysis of your current data formats and allows to provide a clear estimate. Indeed, every system is different and can vary in formats, volumes and migration times.
Our experts are there to help you with diagnostic procedures, formalization and definitions of your needs. Your data is important and our teams can take care of cleaning, formatting, re-organizing your data in your Prodigum system.
By choosing Prodigum, you trust a team of professionals able to help you with the transition of your tool or your current data into Prodigum. To do so, our engineers, business experts and auditors can take the time to analyze your current processes while advising you the best IT & business techniques related to your business, throughout the migration.
Diagnosis is a key element for :
understanding your needs
achieving a realistic deployment schedule
the parameterization of our tools to your working practices.
In addition, Prodigum commits itself to assist you in every preparatory steps of your migration, namely :
the realization of retro- and migration planning
the training of and assistance to the group
the validation of procedures.
Prodigum proposes 2 types of maintenance : a corrective maintenance and an evolving maintenance.
It refers to the elimination of damage or alteration in the functioning of a material element (also called "good" or "entity" in the jargon of the specialty), by various means such as repair, restore the previous state.
The definition of the European standard is as follows: "Maintenance performed after detecting a failure and intended to deliver property in a state in which it can perform a required function".
Another distinction in the corrective maintenance takes to base the immediacy or delayed intervention, distinguishing between:
immediate corrective maintenance carried out immediately after the failure
corrective maintenance deferred, delayed according to data maintenance rules.
It's a branch of the maintenance mainly discussed in terms of software maintenance. It consists of changing an application, for example as a result of user requests to change its behavior, or propose new features related to specific needs within an organization.
Edit Prodigum to make it fill the same role when the technologies with which it must interact have evolved is no evolving maintenance, but adaptive maintenance.
Evolving maintenance consists of:
improve (or redevelop) existing application functions
develop new functions to meet new requirements.
Our teams are at your disposal to help you improve our tool according to your wishes. Based on a quotation, we can help you improve your IT processes.
Your product datasheet (specifications) is verified by several quality players within your company ?
Prodigum allows to manage the validation of your technical datasheets throughout this process, which we call Workflow. It is also adaptable according to the characteristics of your business.
In order to ensure privacy, Prodigum allows to set different access rights, depending on the status of the user, whether internal (employees) or external to your company (suppliers and partners).
You will find below an example of validation process of a product technical datasheet (workflow).
Beyond the basic functions of the application Prodigum, you can customize certain elements according to your look and feel. Others modules are also available. According to your technical needs, some specific additional modules are available. You can also ask for tailor made developments.
Customizable elements :
Look & feel of the application adapted with your colors
Structure of datasheets fitting your standards
Custom profiles and access rights (e.g. Supplier-Admin, Supplier-Expert, Supplier-Supervisor, Packaging-Manager, Data Manager-Supplier)
Display of your logo in the banner
Menu in accordance with your structure
Custom workflows for the product life cycle
Calculation of the datasheets filling rate
Different types of display
Additional modules :
Tree structure for ingredients
Data export for labels
Complaints and follow-up (claims)
Status of files / datasheets
Tailor Made Extensions
Beyond the basic functions and customization of the Prodigum application (look & feel and additional modules), we can customize the application with new tailor made extensions (on demand).
The application misses a module to perfectly fit your needs ?
No problem, we can develop tailor made modules so that the application sticks at best to your business. Our engineers are there to help you implementing the best IT processes in order to help you improve your e-collaborative management flow.
We propose for example the following tailor made extensions:
Custom reports and statistics
Smooth integration of the system into your initial infrastructure (hardware & software)
Custom data input
Connection to your existing software - data interfaces (API-Application Programming Interface)
New hardware integration
Some practical examples of tailor made extensions :
* Basic: Shared server - for small suppliers
* Standard: Dedicated server - for medium & large suppliers
* Premium: Dedicated server plus - for distributors & importers (multi-suppliers)
